Last day of January is really pathetic :(

Since installing blockadblock from one site, the earning has improved a bit. Will give it another week before I install it to my other 5 sites.

Absolutely dreadful. I've only made 10 quid so far this month, it's hardly worth having AdSense on my website. I don't know what Google have done but they've completely ruined it for me.

Ironside, what it the main issue? Traffic down, blank ads, low EPC, low CTR?

I don't think there's an issue with traffic, just seems that the clicks have diminished and CPC is way down.

However, work this out if you can. Up until 20 minutes ago, I was registering 8 clicks with a CPC of 8p. You can do the maths, it was about 65p in earnings that were showings. I checked again a few minutes ago and the clicks had risen to 9 but the CPC was now showing 27p and the earnings had shot up to £2.38. If anyone can explain this then I would be all ears, as Prince Charles once said.

@julesuk
I surf with an ablocker on. When I get to a site that provides good quality content with reasonable ads I white-list the site. Generally if I land on a site that asks to white list without showing content, I bounce. If I follow a link to specific content I am interested in and I am blocked by anti-ad-blocker I'll just right click view source cut and paste the content so I can read it.

I visited one site this week, a very popular site, likely number 1 in its niche. My ad-blocker blocked 48 request for ads or tracking scripts. In addition to these there were a bunch of chum-bucket links (eg: taboola style). In the end I was so curious as to how much crap could they jam onto one page I had unblock the page. WTF!, sticky ads, exit ads, more chum buckets and crap quality ads at that. I was amazed. I block ads specifically to avoid this type of insanity. Throwing up a warning simply confirms to me that the ad experience is going to be abusive.

Some publishers must really believe that the more ads added to a page the more revenue. And then overtime, once this strategy begins to fail, adding more adds will make-up for the drop in revenue.

I really think that now with Chrome 64 and BAS that this will begin to change.

So now my big question is, will throwing up an overlay asking users to enable ads be considered as a violation of the Better Ads Standard causing the site's ads to be blocked by Chrome for all users not just those blocking ads?

I see only garbage ads:
- erection pills spam each day from .ru domains (I ban 2-4 domains each day for this junk).
- fake download ads are back with vengeance
- arabian dating ads

The payment is dreadful!

The things were not so bad until yesterday. All my websites are for US auditory, so I hope that the lowest CPC for years is caused by Super Bowl. But in overall January was a pretty bad (revenue +3%, traffic +25% comparing 2017).

NickMNS, there's no question some publishers have no qualms about spamming dubious ads on their visitors, some sites, especially news sites, are horrendous, the sad part though is ad blocking is throwing the baby out with the bathwater, publishers who respect their visitors (and limit their revenue) gets punished just as much.

Anyone using ‘adsorcery’? It’s anti AdBlockers and it gives visitors options to pay a monthly fee to block ads. It also shows alternative ads. I wonder if your site needs to be approved?

Lowest clawbacks from finalized earnings for last two months in the name of Invalid Traffic. For January 18 earnings just 0.40% and for December 17 only 0.37%.

Haven’t seen this for years, but clawback is positive, means the number in finalized payments is bigger than the estimated. Just about several euros, but still good news.

Either they have a new more efficient real time system that removes invalid clicks or there is another worldwide update, because it looks like that everyone is having low or no clawback.

I though I had some changes in the layout to decrease it, but then I read that all of you are having small clawback.

Not me, for some reason it shot up in January to 8.4% clawback, which is our highest ever. Last October the clawback shot up to 5.5%, but then dropped down to a normal number for us - which is around 2.5 to 3.5%.

I'm really annoyed by that clawback, it's a decent sized number. I'l see how this month shakes out, but if February clawback is the same or goes higher, then I'm likely going to replace most of my Adsense units with Adx.

I have more desktop traffic in January, so I suppose most of my invalid clicks are coming from mobile users and that's why I don't have any clawback.

I still had my second highest revenue month, for a January, in my 15 year history with Adsense. But this clawback is nuts. Now I know how my friends feel who have had 10% taken or even 15% in one case.

I have almost no clawback with Adx, because no clicks are involved, which is making me lean more in that direction.

@vega - up to 10% is considered normal by Google Adsense, if you get above 10% you can start worrying

Worst day (1st Feb) in last 6 months, even August bug day was better.

I'm also planning to go ad-less for India. Literally makes no sense to show ads in India as it has just 1% of earnings despite high traffic.

@MayankParmar whats your general niche. You condsider affiliate ads? They make up about half of my income.. especially since i am making much less with adsense the last few months.
