Lowest RPM I’ve seen in a while. Google is so evil smh.

It is expected for New Year's day, I have always done well during the holidays (this year an exemption), but it always has been slow for me on Christmas day and New Year's day, so let's not read much into it, not today.

@AllHearts My January 2023 wasn’t that good either so we’ll see what happens,

January need a time ( 10 days ) to start but this one is the lowest I have ever seen ( 18 years) Hopefully only a transition

Adsense is going through a transition in itself so with the holidays in all I expected a slow start.

As expected, it's a horrible start. 60% down

I want to ask. Maybe it was here many times, but i want your opinion. Did you try block some category which have high impression, but low earnings? I talking when impression is 8% and earnings was 2% from category. If somebody help in earnings, when block some category or it was always downturn in earnings?

@Bobb11
I have tried it a few times throughout the years and made no difference for me.

Anyone else's CPC hit rock bottom after Christmas day? Today is the worse, it dropped by half of what I usually get on average.

We are all affected apparently we shall wait until next week

My CPC seems normal. What dropped the most for me is the clicks + rpm. CTR is a bit on the lower end too. Definitely different numbers than last year so far.

Today being worse than yesterday caught me off guard.

Starting off 2024 with the EXACT same Adsense numbers as last year. 0% change.

What’s happening with Adsense just seems like they’re doing it on purpose. I don’t feel one bit that they’re genuinely trying to make things better.

Still hopeful that something will change but the drastic drop for the New Year so far just seems like they had a plan to drop revenue for everyone this year.

Perfect storm of events to start 2024 it seems - Adsense's pending switch to CPM, upcoming GDPR enforcement, just passed a long holiday period, coming off a long holiday weekend, short work week for most (U.S.).
Corporaties wont be back at work in full until next week really - so traffic and ad spend will remain in the pooper for the time being.
Hoping numbers pick up by the middle of the month, but I've been saying that to myself for the past 5 years or so, January stopped being 'good' some time ago. February is always worse : /

Maybe it's just me, but... anyone else seeing an Analytics anomaly in ad_click? (Assuming you have your Analytics and AdSense connected).
This strikes me as pretty interesting considering the restrictions on cookies went into effect on Jan 1, and AdSense is moving to CPM.
Remember, Google's (supposed) rationale for moving to CPM is that they can't track ad fraud and abide by the new cookie laws at the same time.
Anyone else seeing the same anomaly in GA?

Facebook traffic down too. Doing bad in all areas starting off the year.

Up 23% from this time last year but with my new found traffic since then I expected a much better percentage at this time.

December was unexpectedly good for me. Now traffic is also good, but eCPM is dropping like a rock each day. January is like that in the last few years and brace for February!

@Mentat Last year my January was low too and my February was even lower. I hope February isn’t like last February.

Long time lurker, but don't think I've posted before.
Firstly, it has been "great" to watch this thread over the last few years as it showed me I was not alone in the ever decreasing spiral. This month is the pits, and I can only see it getting worse.
Although they are the best in town I am fed up with the Google's complete lack of transparency, my decreasing earnings and the fat G cat's increasing profits. Just do not know what goes on.
Luckily my site has been going from strength to strength, and donations have taken up some of the slack. Looking for positives, now is a good time for me to try "going it alone", hardly going to miss out on much.
So I've now substituted my top banner for an inhouse donation one. Left the rest and will see what happens.
I sell the occasional direct ad, so will work on generating more of that.
As the devil says in Paradise Lost "Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven" (mind you whilst there's been a lot of serving I haven't seen too much heaven recently)
