Got the March Report email from Adsense today.

Impressions were up 8% :-D

Revenue was down 5% :-(

I'm just at a loss, I have no idea what to do anymore.

@csdude55

There’s nothing you can do. Economies across the world are tanking. When the economy is bad, one of the first things that companies do is cut back their advertising spending. We just have to hold on for the ride and hope at some point in the near future that things rebound as they always do.

for the record, my page views are up, my clicks are up, but my revenue is down 18%.

Against Feb March is up 22 pc and impressions 60 pc ….

@gatomark
it s all depending on the sector and the countries you serve
I have enhanced the contents and it s reflected in the results
Wait and see with Google doesn t work either you continue to adapt to requirement or you disappear

@Sissi

I Imagine some sectors have a measure of immunity from the world economy. But all are impacted in some way.

The one thing that has helped me is that I do not completely rely on Adsense. I have incorporated paid memberships, paid guest posting, and other income generators associated with the websites.

But the initial comment was directly related to advertising revenue.

I don't live in the US, but I don’t see any reason for such a crash in advertising revenue.
We had financial crisis, covid etc, we have inflation, war in Europe, but all the figures are not critical; not -60%!

@Mentat

-60% suggests that something else is going on especially if your traffic is the same as last year. I do know this, I stopped advertising in certain countries because it was making my revenue worse.

I have noticed that when I get a lot of traffic from certain countries that the quality of advertising gets worse. I only promote my business in the highest revenue producing countries, with a strong U.S. focus.

It would be interesting to know which countries you target with your marketing.

Having said that, it’s always the same during an economic downturn; fewer advertisers and more websites.

Things are looking up a bit here. Better EPC. Turning on auto ads last month definitely helped. Google is at me to turn on more but I don't want to scare visitors away.

@ember

Yeah, auto ads is fine, however I avoid side rail ads and multiplex ads. I also avoid having Google optimize my existing ad units on some sites because the layout breaks.

@gatormark, I only have the auto banner ads and vignettes turned on, no side rail, multiplex or anchor ads. I might try turning off letting Google optimize to see what happens.

Is it just me or Google has been sending too many emails asking to add more ad slots on the page? They keep asking me to turn on different ad types in different emails, anchor, rails etc

Sissi

Letting Google optimize for you is worth to try in the next future and coupled with AI search there will be less room for any choice for us

Over the last few days, I have starterd seeing these odd grey adds with just a pattern on them on some ad spots, out of curiosity I clicked on one and it took me to an "Ad Blocked" page on: go.integralads.com and it says this:

The ad you were going to be served was blocked at the request of the advertiser.
The ad was blocked for at least one of the below reasons:

The ad appeared outside the advertiser’s desired campaign geography
The location of the ad
The content adjacency does not match advertiser’s brand values or campaign objectives
The source of the traffic

Neither "go.integralads.com" or "integralads.com" exist on my list of networks so therefore I can't block it.

Has anyone noticed this on their sites?

It would not be listed on your list of networks because it is an advertiser and not a network. Try the Ad Review center in your account. ;)

Indeed, the statistics do not move by about 2-3 hours within the Adsense dashboard

Personally, it feels like premium pubs are getting the best serving ads in this economy

Google ads revenue is still strong, so we got the fall ;)

Alphabet Inc.,Google’s parent company, posted $54.5 billion in ad revenue for the first quarter, a decrease of less than 1% from the same period last year but a smaller decline than Wall Street anticipated.
That is the third drop in ad sales since Google became a public company in 2004, and the second consecutive quarterly decline following a 3.6% drop in the fourth quarter.
