@ember - we know, the problem is that Adsense is huge, not 1-2-1000 - 10 000 advertisers, but millions of big and small business.
The ads industry is like a very sensible pressure gauge.
Without Adsense the internet as we know it would not be. It costs too much.

When millions of business are expecting recession, the recession will come and will be nightmare, like The Great Depression nightmare and of course... war.

Inflation is here to stay; we all want money, so they printed money, now they cannot stop the printer, not without casualties.
I'm glad that I don't have any debts, but I see 2023 as a first year in a battle for survival for my business.

@Bobb11,

Yeah same here, all my numbers are way down today, wonder if this is the cause.

@Mentat

My battle for survival began with COVID in 2020. Now, for the first time in over 10 years, I am considering getting a “real” job. I have no desire whatsoever to go back to the corporate world, but I hate dipping into savings just to make ends meet. Like you, I do not have debt, so that has allowed me to absorb these ups and downs since COVID. However, my website income is slowly being whittled away, year by year.

Must admit that today is unusual high achieving the level of April 22

I hate seeing chunks of money and page views being removed from my estimated earnings. Today has been bad in that respect.

For some reason, yesterday had the worse earnings in a long time. The traffic was decent, nothing dropped.

I was expecting a boost now because of the easter holidays, but seems to be worse than normal.

Daily fluctuations are absolutely normal. The huge drop in January or at each quarterly change is also normal. What is exciting is the current comparison with the previous year. Here I am still minus 40%.

Against last year 48% however the last 36 hours sudden substential cross all our websites
was the case in March as well and then a desillusion again

Echoing ember's and others' comments, the US is going down the drain. That's the easiest way to put it. You all are probably aware of the causes. Independent publishers like us have tried to play fair, done the right things, followed the "suggestions" of our overlords.

It hasn't worked out so well. My Adsense revenue is a quarter of what it was 3 years ago. Been at this since 2005. Good thing I have alternative revenue streams. Advise others to find other ways to make $$. Google will never change.

I've begun to see an uptick in summer-related site revenue so that's good news. There is money out there being exchanged but it highly depends on the industry you're covering these days. This isn't 2012 anymore where every site and any site could make a killing. Back then you would just laugh as you chomped on the end of your stogie, throwing $100 bills into the fireplace for warmth.

Today you're begging for crumbs.

Today is super low. Maybe revenue stats stuck? I don‘t know.

Maybe it's because people are in easter holidays, nobody is staying that much online and spending.
At least for me it feels like it's the same as in the Christmas and new year's days.

My CPC went up 40 pc in one week revenues are still 35 pc behind last year same period.
Not trying to speculate what is behind it, for sure it is related to enhanced quality of the content I have been working on during the last months for specific sectors.
Covering several websites with several different sectors I have noticed that some industries are going down while others are really doing well.
And forget about recession and all pessimism blaming the economy.
Global advertising revenues will grow to USD 833 bln in 2023 or 5 % compared to 7 % in 2022 (source Forbes)

Status quo for me. Not much change this month. 20% below last year. I’m still spending money on advertising and marketing. That will never change. If I can eventually rebound to 2021 numbers, I’ll be OK.

Can confim cross all sectors we cover
No e-commerce
Hopefully you see the same soon
However it can that tomorrow we see a swift revenues reduction again.
In my view Adsense has changed its algo for ads and there is a process behind the scene but don t know the formula

And a new AI search engine is in the works, so who knows how that will affect advertisers and by extension Adsense.
