Hello everyone new here,
Yes, our AdSense earnings are down in the last few days as well, well the rpm has plummeted. Our traffic is mostly Usa, UK, Canada, Australia and NZ. Looking at the today's breakdown of countries with the worst rpm seems to be Usa, UK and Canada, that's 70% of our traffic, Australia is normal rpm wise and few others.

But how does removing the ad links solve the problem?
@nubchai I'm not confident that it will solve the problem, but I think it might. I have absolutely NO abnormal number of clicks on that site. It wasn't until I began using link ads that I had the problem, and even then the click activity appeared normal. And usually no one comes to a culinary site and fools around trying to mess it up. I think people were mistaking the link ads for site navigation.

MY US RPM is 20% of the normal average today, Wonder what's going on. Never seen such a hit.

@azlinda oh now I understand. You think the link units caused invalid clicks and that's why Adsense took back so much. That makes sense. They cut my earnings by 5%.

ANybody have AdSense alternative recommendations?

One interesting thing about this fiasco is that I am seeing ads I've never seen before in my life for brands/items I never knew existed. They have nothing whatsoever to do with my site or any other sites I regularly visit so it is a new experience. Not a good one, just a new one.

@ember I am still seeing a lot of the contextual ads that I always used to see prior to this fiasco, but I have been noticing one particular ad I've been seeing all over too, [dropbox.com...]

Yes, I see that one all over, too. Tried blocking it earlier but it did no good. To answer your question about alternatives, some people use media.net. It seems to be the best one out there, although I've heard - and it's been my experience - that it doesn't perform as well as it once did.

@deriklogov – I spoke to Google Yesterday (Monday) and Today (Tuesday). Their only answer was that their engineers are currently working on it and that they have no other information to report at this time. As soon as they do, they state they will email me. They also said that a number of publishers already contacted them regarding this same issue.

So they know there's a problem and are working to fix it. All we can do is wait. I hope they work on it a little more quickly than they are working on the Ad Balancer. Thanks, HereWeGo123.

@ember they didn't straight up “admit” that there is an issue, but when asked, they stated, “Possibly, we can’t say for sure just yet. However, there seems to be a pattern that would indicate something’s up”

Hi everyone, I have been reading this forum for a while but after hitting with the same problem as you guys on Adsense, I've decided to join. So it has been confirmed that it is a bug and Google are definitely working on this. I wonder how long do we have to wait? I really hope Google reinstate our lost earning and also sort this out asap.

I have a terrible feeling it's not a glitch in the Matrix, but the problem is August. Everyone is on holiday, except us.
In Ad review center all my "contextual" ads are now off. I see there and on the site, only junk ads.

I doubt it to be August problem. Because I had good numbers until 7th (better than July) but suddenly on 8th, the crappy ads hit me too and I'm crying just like you guys.

It's 9th August. It is quite better than yesterday but still, the drop of 50% is visible. It has improved by 15%. Today, CTR looks bad while CPC is much better than yesterday.

I got over 1 dollar tonight for 5 clicks .. maybe they fixed it. I replaced standard ads with native ads.. dunno if that has anything to do with it. ?

US Virgin Islands RPM is 581$! Unbelievable.
Just checked and found UK CPC much better today but I don't have traffic from there. While on other hand, the US and Canada CPC, RPM is awful. Still same.

You can't judge RPM on a low traffic. You should have a stable quantity of traffic over time to evaluate the RPM by country.
I've checked again by country:
UK , US , Canada are - 50% CPC.UK was good until yesterday and then decreased.
Australia today is back to normal, only yesterday they were at -50%.
Anyone with similar observations?

Just wanted to share... I contacted my Adsense Account manager and he told me that it's just the time of the year... budget for running campaigns being stopped, reallocated etc...
Although I must admit that the RPM of ads I run through Sortable (Ad optimazation technology) do not show this decrease in RPM. So I might temporarily switch some units to Sortable as well untill Adsense picks up again.
Also if you're posting numbers like how much your RPM decreased it makes sense to also mention how many pageviews you have. My RPM was 40% lower the normal yesterday (a little over 300K pageviews which is the average I get per day).

It's not about the season! Most of us here are having Adsense accounts for years and never experienced such massive drop in such short time. It's some major bug, glitch or update rolling and I doubt it if those acc managers do even know what is happening.
MayankParmar
6:54 am on Aug 9, 2017 (gmt 0)
RIght, it is not about the season. A sudden decrease of 50-60% within 1-2 day is unaccetable. Even August beginning was better than July for most of us here so I believe it's not about the season.

Yeah, completely agree with everyone else. It's unfortunate that that particular Adsense manager is unfamiliar

Maybe this mornings bounce upwards is early morning low data - it does look better tho - down around 20% rather than a full 50% right now. This is on 1.5m average daily pageviews

@ww2015 - are US and Canada back to normal CPC/CTR? I'm not seeing any improvements so far.

Yeah UK/CA/UK seem around 75% of normal - EU countries seem to be 85% - as i switch more impressions back to Google it is dropping though. If I were to guess its heading back to normal levels and will take another day or so to get there.
