The first 10 days of April we're down, but it's picked back up for me. Closer to March’s numbers, but not quite there. Still, at least it's not April 2020.

Traffic for me yesterday was 24% down on previous Monday. Must be the improved weather! (UK).

For me, today is very slow or something is broken. Low traffic and very low payment.

Hello,
A first half of April, extremely slow, especially considering the huge improvement I noticed since last summer. But, in the last few days, stats sky-rocked, so now, April is inline with the last months. May be delayed data coming in.

@JorgeV
I am getting the same thing. The last few days adsense numbers are matching March’s numbers. However, the first half of April was down about 25%. I hope the month finishes out well. Still, I'm up over 100% of last April.

I have always used Google Ads to promote my websites. I’m curious, what do you guys use to advertise your business or websites?

We no longer rely on AdSense or programmatic as our primary income generator, and I suggest all publishers look towards other revenue sources. March was awesome for programmatic, April has been crappy for programmatic. Our traffic is always growing.
All that said, our business revenue has grown 6x (nearly 8 figures) ever since we started focusing on creating our own ad relationships instead of relying on opaque programmatic players. So, whatever programmatic does is always just extra.

@adtech2
It is living precariously just to rely on AdSense. To be dependent on another singular party for your income is a little dangerous. In some ways it is similar to having all of your stocks in one company.
However, I love AdSense and it is always done fairly well for me except for the apocalyptic 2020 and Covid. It accounts for about 75% of my websites’ income and has paid my bills for 8 years straight.

@Gatormark, I'm afraid you're missing some huge opportunities with relying that much on Adsense. Adsense fills my crappy last impressions with about the same amount of impressions as direct advertisers and affiliates. But affiliates earn me about 4 times the amount of Adsense and direct advertisers about 3 times. No wonder I'm serving affiliates and direct advertisers ads in front of Adsense.

@Runfun
I understand what you are saying, I just don't have the bandwidth to seek out direct advertisers and affiliates. Are you using Google Ad Manager to handle this? It's been a while since I used that.

Yesterday was the 2nd best day of the year excluding the week when my competitor's website was down. Hopefully, the pace will keep up.

@Gatormark, yes with Ad Manager I show my visitors first the affiliate ads than header bidding competing against Adsense and sometimes a direct advertiser. I've a lot of visitors who come back each day so I'm also using a frequency cap of 3 affiliate ads a week.

How do you handle payment collection?
Mentat
2:11 pm on Apr 23, 2021 (gmt 0)
Well, in the last 2 weeks I got a smaller eCPM each day and now is a record low. I'm talking about Ad Manager, not classic Adsense.

@Gatormark, payments are all seperated for each type of affiliate, adserving company, etc. So for example I place affiliates of network A and B they pay me out with their platform. All comes together at Ad Manager because that's the adserver... but for this moment read what Mentat says and my reply:
@Mentat, same here and I was looking for the solution but I've no clue. Tried to change my Consent Management Platform, just removed tags of the header bidding company, I've no idea what's wrong. I'm glad to read the same problem so it's maybe more than your or my website.

Are you all anxious like me waiting to know the clawback ?
Runfun
11:44 am on Apr 25, 2021 (gmt 0)
Considering the low earnings when using Adsense through Ad Manager there's probably something wrong in Ad Manager. When I replace the tags by Adsense tags it works fine and the earnings are normal. Problem with Google is you can't message them with problems they only care about the top few percent of the publishers.
I've something else, I noticed when my url ends with for example #postid or something like that, Adsense doesn't show any ads. Is there a solution? In the past it was possible to show an ad as passback but that setting is gone.

CPC on the plug and play Adsense code has been steadily rising this week. Above March numbers.

Ya, hard to get excited about month-end estimated earnings when you lose a chunk of it to start the month.

I remember why I stopped with pure Adsense on my website:
- lots of blank spaces you can't fill with a passback - crappy earnings - slow rendering of ads - etc. etc. ...

I guess it’s official. Page speed will now be a factor and how your website ranks in Google search engine results.
