How was everyone’s weekend numbers?

Weekend slightly better. Both CPC and CTR are increasing. My idea is that in my primary AdSense niche (leisure) businesses are starting to advertise for post-pandemic activities resulting in better ads and more competition for ad slots.

CPC steadily increasing since the removal of Link Ads. Best weekend in years. I wonder if the USA stimulus money is affecting advertising spending. I know I'm promoting my paid memberships more to get a piece of the stimulus pie.

I did notice CPC increasing throughout last week as well.

I'm not sure how it happened but I finally jumped to number 1 in one of my niche sites for the first time in 7-8 years. I don't know how long it will stay there because the #1 site for years is having website problems. Once they fix it, they may catapult back to #1. The difference between 2nd and 3rd on the SERP and #1 is incredible! I've gone from averaging 30+ active users to 160!

Numbers are a little down today. Hopefully is just slow reporting.

@gatormark, is the previous #1 slot owner also monetizing the site with AdSense or some other ad network like you are doing? I have seen competitor sites above me in the past just giving up and abandoning their sites while I was raking in 4 digits earnings per month in the same niche where I had lower SERP positions for the main keywords. Ranking not always equals earnings. And long-tail searchers are often very targeted and can therefore give higher RPM outcome. Being #1 for one keyword is not the whole story.

Currently a competitor in one of my AdSense niches refused to convert their site to https. They were axed by Google in early February for that. No sign that they are fixing the error. Their AdSense earnings must have been way lower than mine.

The previous #1 slot owner was monetizing using Adsense the last time I checked, as am I.

My site didn't just go to #1 in a SERP position, it went to #1 in the entire niche from #2. So, virtually every keyword (hundreds of keywords) has me at #1 instead of 2 or 3. It was a huge financial shift. This informational site is still using HTTP as well. The site I replaced uses HTTPS. When I went to HTTPS years ago with my main website I lost a lot of juice. So, I am not changing this website until I have to.

CPM is climbing back slowly

I am not using AdSense anymore (ads are limited for 31 days).

For AdX and other ad networks, CPM seems to be getting now.

I have been getting lower Adsense number across that board, on all of my websites, this weekend.

@Lisa1 Yes after December 1st week, Also Google core update was a problem for me.

Maybe Adsense has started filtering ad block users

What the heck! I have a negative balance in my account. It's only a few dollars, but still that is strange. Payment history shows invalid traffic billed on the 29th, yesterday.

Clawback in a specific vertical? Could be a large advertiser in a specific niche who couldn't pay their bills?

I'm really not worried about the why, given that is a small amount. But I find the timing odd, why now 2 days before month end, why not just included it with the normal month end clawback? What makes this special?

Yes, Google had automatically switched on "auto ads", without my permission, which causes a terrible user experience.

Check and make sure "auto ads" are off, otherwise you may see the same problem.
