The summer months are challenging for revenue. A lot of eyeballs are at the beach. However, summer can also be a time of great optimism. Here's to summer!

Things do seem a bit down today when compared to the rest of June. Traffic, too, has suffered this whole week for some of my web properties : /

How many of you are seeing a decrease in earnings due to CTR?

Adsense CTR is down after June 15. Traffic normal, very few clicks.
Google using same ad method like media.net? Confirm with second click to visit web link?

Yes. I have been seeing the second click confirmation on and off this month. Is that the same thing you are seeing?

Yes, i heard it from many other users too. I can't try much as it is violation of adsense rules.

I agree. What do you think we should do then? Just wait it out? I have seen this happen before

I would wait for few more days or a week. I haven't tried other adsense alternatives yet.
Waiting for other members to comment on this.

Doesn't it affect advertisers too? Don't they get poor response due to these ad behaviour changes?

I already tried tweaking.. no use.. or maybe adverts has something to do with niches and seasons?

I just got my "How did example.com perform with AdSense in May" email from AdSense. This month they are reporting that I earned 3x more than I actually did. LOL.

@Grapetimes for almost 3 weeks now, I already did the following:
1. Switched to non-personalized
2. Ad rotation between ad links and responsive blocks
3. Removed other non-revenue auto ads like Vignette and fluid
No used! Getting $2 per day is the best I am getting for each 4K unique visits per day. Unlike before I can get as high as $5 - $15 per day for that traffic. My main visitors are from US and UK.

Arrggghhh!

I will try to switch back to Personalized and monitor again.

I believe it has more to do with ad placement than anything else. Have you seen any updates?

@bugthinker
Switched to non-personalized

Did you switch of personalized ads for EEA (EU) users or all users?
What percentage of your ad impressions and/or revenue was coming from personalized ads before you switched them off?

No used! Getting $2 per day is the best I am getting for each 4K unique visits per day. Unlike before I can get as high as $5 - $15 per day for that traffic. My main visitors are from US and UK.

There have been many different updates over the past few month that may be impacting you negatively, such as: "Brand Safety", "Lazy Loading or Ads", "Double click" (or click confirmation).

When did you start to see a drop in revenue?
Has your coverage changed?
Has the ratio of ad impressions to page view changed?
Has your CTR changed?

The double click penalty is not new, there is a forum on it that began around February of 2017

@grapetimes true, but I think, based on the posts in this thread that there may be a new spate happening now (pure speculation base on posts here!)

I agree. It has happened to me for the first time February of 2017. Hopefully it all clears up soon

Wouldn't a lot of daily revenue fluctuations or a large clawback at month's end be a good indication that the two click penalty is coming?

On June 5th my click through rate CTR fell by half. I didn't make any changes to my site, I'm getting the same number of impressions, but the number of users clicking is way down. I have never seen such a massive drop in CTR in the last 8 years using AdSense.

It has been two weeks of very substantially reduced CTRs for me.

Interesting my CPCs are up. That means that my RPM (and overall revenue) is only down by 30% rather than by 50%.

I thought it might have something to do with GDPR, but I don't think the date lines up. It seems to affect all my users, not just my European users. I see the exact same CPC graph in my reports even if I filter out the European countries.

My category is finance.

Anybody else see a sustained click through rate drop starting on the 5th?

Are you seeing the double click to confirm message with the “Visit Site” appearing on the ad after it’s clicked?

@Grapetimes -- Is there any way to tell if my users are getting that without clicking on my own ads? I've never seen that, but then I never click on the ads on my site.
