Getting the following message when I go to Ad Balance:

"Ad balance is under maintenance

Your Ad balance settings have been reset and your revenue isn't affected.
Our engineers are working on it. Please check back again soon."

It may just be regular and it'll be back real soon.
Please keep an eye on that.

Hmmm, slightly unnerving that it is just me. Maybe related to the hundreds of thousands of extra page views that Adsense is reporting (but not for individual sites) and the fact that my CTR has collapsed over the last few days. At my wits' end.

Something is very wrong, but so far, I am clueless about how to fix it.

Same with me, Ad balance is broken also for more than a week. Ad coverage whatever it was 39%, 44% or 59%.
With google Analytics (Publisher overview) it's 90% or 96%. Before this week the same percentages were very close to each other (Adsense / Analytics). I wish this maintenance to end quickly. This is my first post here so i'm very glad to join your community, Thanks.

Well then it's unanimous... it's broke.

OK, which one of you broke it?

Settings have been reset... to what?

Reset to 100% :p, as it has been in the past week or so. I think I was among one of the earliest to call it.

I am glad that they're finally recognizing the issue. At least it'll be in the works to fix. It is really the game changer.

For me, the Ad Balancer would be much more useful if I could set it for a per-ad or per-site basis.
That would be really useful for combatting Ad Blindness.

And per minute of which hour, per IP, per browser...

When the ad balancer was working i had it set to show 70% ads. But on my sites with lesser visitors it could get down to 30%. So yes, being able to adjust it per site and per ad, would be really nice

Still down... It would be nice to get it back...

No surprise. I have the message too and my ads have been showing at almost 100%. Oddly, my revenue has increased by about 80% too despite being set at 100% revenue before maintenance. Seems to me that if this is the case, then it really did need a reset.

There must be something really wrong with it, or maybe it will be very much improved when it comes back

The thing is, if most of Adsense users are setting their ad balance, which seems to be roughly 50% fill rate, it means that in its next business report, Adsense will show half less impressions than previously, and it might be badly interpreted by investors, isn't it ?

Yes, but the investors should have information about the ad balancer?

It's been down a while now. I wonder if they're having second thoughts about the whole Ad Balance idea...

maybe google didn't foresee how much we are annoyed by those cheapo ads and that webmasters would even give up a small amount of earnings (and a huge part of ad impressions) just to ensure ad quality.

considering how long the ad balance is under maintenance already, it could even be that they discontinue the project and force us to keep showing the 70 percent of low performers.

The long holiday weekend (in the U.S.) probably did not help in fixing this issue in a timely manner either. i suspect it will come back online sometime today (Tuesday).

I did put out a call to AdSense for an update, but as you say, it's a long holiday weekend so they may be playing catchup.

My guess is that they are doing some testing with some strange ads that look like the matched content ads and they dont won't us to block them.

Still "under maintenance." This is getting tiresome.

@EG really, I am being flooded with spammy ads, and without the back-up ads this has limited my ability to promote another project of mine.

Does anyone know what the issue is?

Evan Salamanca

I think we all saw the issue. The numbers never matched up. You set it at 20% fill and get 50% fill. On top of that one ad unit would get 80 and the other would get 10. I'm guessing this is gonn take a while to fix.

Either that or the Adwords team got pissed off at Adsense's team for tanking half of their ads 😂
