Thanks, I'm hoping that's the case. It's much more optimistic than what I was thinking. As I mentioned in another thread, in half a day, I received a thousand clicks to an ad unit that was completely removed from the page. Probably not delayed reporting but certainly could of been a result of some disruption from updating the system. I'd prefer to think that over some massive bot attack. I don't think any of us that contacted Google have heard anything back, so I guess we'll just continue to speculate.

That could be a cached page or catch-up. It's hard for a bot to attack something that doesn't exist but not difficult to copy someone's page and post the copy on your own site. Heck, if that's the case, you could be getting clicks on that unit forever.

Yeah, it seems it has happened a lot this month to others on this forum as well on the Google support forum. So I'm hoping it's not a targeted thing, but rather some glitch in the system. I use Site Authorization, so I wouldn't think a copied page of mine, posted on another server, could register and retain clicks.

No, I see no "rollouts" from yesterday. But I don't have the same interface that you do. Nor do I see any major AdWords changes, which would be far more likely to affect AdSense than Analytics would (and an Analytics change would affect AdWords as well).

Also, the Analytics issue apparently has been going on with many people for well over a month.

Well, since this is an Adsense forum it would be pertinent to note that I'm talking about the Adsense interface. GA is integrated into that interface.

AdWords is also integrated into the system, yes. The point here is that down below what you or I or any user can see, these systems are all integrated. This is not a discussion about interface changes but interface changes are a clear indication that something is being developed under the surface. I will contend right now that a glitch in one system is not necessarily due to a change in that system but could in fact be a bi-product of a change to a related system. Reporting interface changes or even changes to the Adwords bidding interface won't show up until the underlying data structure and business logic (programming) to support it is in place. It's the process of restructuring or adding to the structure and changing the supporting logic that occasionally throws reporting systems out of whack. There were major disruptions to Adsense, for example, when G began integrating Analytics into the Adsense reporting interface.

Try rewriting the code for a live purchasing system on a website at the same time a couple hundred million people are using it and you'll immediately see that it's not as simple as posting random thoughts on a webmaster board.

Adsense has taken such a dive for me. I cannot figure it out. Nothing has really changed. For a long time I just denied it and thought.... oh it's the holidays, or weather...or whatever excuse I could think of.

I finally switched over to media.net. And though it's not earning what adsense did in it's "hay day" (think 2010) for me -- it's earning four times as much as adsense has been earning for me in the last 3-4 months.

Well today started off horribly, red bar on (and heasn't gone off in the last few hours).

Horrible RPM, then it bounced back up. For a second there it was as high as it used to be in Feb 2013.

Then Google shaved 85% of it off, back to a horrible RPM one of the worst I have ever seen with this program.

I have gone from USD 10,000+ per month of 6-7 years ago and gradually slid downwards to 3-4 years ago of USD 3,000 per month, however the last 2+ years have been utterly brutal and dived towards USD 400-500 per month...I shall be amazed if I make USD 250 this month.

This has all been brought about by Google itself with its Pathetic Panda and Penguin attempts at cleaning-up its disastrous SERPs.

They, Google, have their delusional belief that they are doing well meanwhile the rest of us simply look aghast at their continued cock-up after cock-up!

In my opinion, they are pathetic, I have absolutely no comprehension whatsoever why anyone, any company, any investor, considers this a viable programme, it's simply diabolical for many these days.

For those who ARE doing well...congratulations, but don't bet it will last for ever.

FWIW, unfortunately, it is still the only GLOBAL ad server for non-US businesses...unless I've missed something. Writing that I'm earning more from the UK recently than the US with 25% of the PVs!

I'm making paltry earnings this month. Couple of the lowest days (almost all time low days) the past 2 days. I've tweaked my expectations accordingly which is painful but necessary. I've adjusted my effort in my sites according to this new earning potential or lack thereof.

Theories aside, the less I make or being paid out, the more somebody else is making. In a sense, I can rest peacefully knowing that the money I'm not making now is being made up by somebody somewhere. If I'm running the program and people are reporting smaller earnings, I'm not sure that's all bad news. Evidence seems to suggest things haven't been better.

I don't want to sidetrack the daily earnings thread. Let me just say that the company's value isn't following the same trajectory as that adsense graph. That's my point. So long as the stock value rises there is no reason to expect any changes in Adsense earnings. Why give me more if you don't need to?

I'm hoping today for some sort of refresh on earnings. A dump of some kind would be nice.

I suppose people doing really well with adsense (or have never seen a decline) don't respond on these threads? Only those earning low or watching their earnings dwindle post.

That would require the actual sharing of useful information which usually requires more than a couple of acronym-loaded sentence fragments to accomplish. Misery, on the other hand, loves company and is easy to express with a simple moan or groan.

I know for me...
I originally used a 336x280 in content (blended) and had it floating to the left.

I also used a 468x60 banner on my homepage (blended), just below the welcome content.

I also used a 300x250 at the bottom of content (blended). For years this worked very well for me.

Early 2011 is when it all started to shift. Earnings just started dwindling... dying a slow death.

I have tried to go with unblended units, or going to just ONE unit per page (the 336x280 in content). I've tried using the "link units" too. Those seem almost pointless in my opinion.

Recently I tried to remove all units and use a new section for adsense - the right sidebar. Not above the fold - but "at the fold". I tried blended and unblended. It did no good.

I've also tried turning off and on the third party, internet based and social media settings. In the end - it seemed shutting them all off helped the most. But still... not enough to get excited about, as earnings continued to just drop.

When my earnings were highest, I did not review any ads. I recently started reviewing ads daily. That seems to hurt more than help.

There are other things I have noticed recently. The page views that adsense claims I have are a LOT lower than what say, media.net shows for the day. This is with adsense having more coverage. How can that be? Or am I not understanding how that works?

I know this isn't super valuable info -- but I wanted others to know that some long time adsense publishers have tried different things.

Ultimately none of them worked for me. Starting in March I will be removing adsense totally from my site after 10+ years. I'll be selling the space myself and using media.net in other spots. At least I have more control over selling the ad space myself.

@Frost_Angel Thanks for sharing your experiments. I think the new text formats generally are causing people problems and ad size is part of it. Certain sizes tend to render with panels while others don't. Some sizes have almost no image ads whereas with others, image ads tend to dominate (when letting G decide what to serve). One example is the 250 x 250 ad size. I see a lot less panels with this unit and I think panels are a real detriment to actionability in general. The larger units almost always (or predominately) render in panels so, I've found a 250 x 250 to be much more effective overall.

I'm generally finding that it's also important to find ways to keep the ad titles from looking like page headers (which they tend to do with no underlining). Color plays a major role in this and blending certainly can cause people to skim right over these new units.

Regarding ad review, when I'm having a slow day, I start suspecting aggressive ad campaigns and I start looking for what's dominating my ad space generally. I've found that blocking certain takeover advertisers at least get's the ad diversity back in line to some degree and almost immediately see some improvement. This isn't exactly the same as reviewing ads but it really sucks when one advertiser is dominating my whole site and their ads aren't producing. Blocking can often have some positive effect on this phenomenon.

Ditto. Only one day in 2013 and 2012 were as low. I had to go all the way back to my first AdSense week in 2004 to find numbers as bad. Sure AdSense, whatever you say.

Today, I started with 26p. I've been away for hours, and I came back... and it's still 26p. A few hours more past, and it finally moved... to 54p. I've just checked again, and it's gone back to 26p. WTF

Just passed February 2013 Adsense earnings with 14 days to go. So far 2014 is running close to 2011 my best year ever.

Direct advertising and affiliate sales are doing equally as well.

Enjoying it while it lasts but you never know what is around the corner.

If it's all Google's fault then why am I having such a GREAT day? Great Month? Great Year? It would be really cool if others who are having consistent success with this program would chime in to help balance out the daily woe and misery here. It's easy to just keep complaining and never get down to the brass tacks of what "YOU" might be doing to screw yourself.
