I think we all have a bit of ego in us (including me). Let's give the new member the benefit of the doubt because a dozen posts cannot provide a full personality profile.

When someone is passionate or convinced about something they can be more bold and outspoken without necessarily being egotistical. An absence of tone of expression makes it more difficult to figure out.

We never know what a new member may or may not struggle with either. As an example if you ever listen to an autistic person talking about there experiences they often elevate themselves yet they are among the most humble individuals among us. That misconception is due to their thought patterns taking complex filtering routes to verbally express themselves. Some can manage it better than others.

By no means am I implying that the new member has something wrong! We just need to realize that collectively, forum wide, we think and express ourselves differently.

I know I made a mistake here at some point by assuming netmeg was extroverted based on her "matter of fact" presentations of which she corrected me. Then I was able to mentally add a tone of expression to her writings and thereafter was more inclined to allow myself to try to learn something from what she was saying. (Sorry to put you on the spot, luv ya nutmeg :p)

Anyway this is all way off topic but I just felt it was important to inject. Patience is the key, peace.

No he hasn't. For one, to breach it, he has to sign the DPA. Secondly, you are not identifiable by first name alone. You are not the only person in here with that name.

I agree it was wrong for Play_Bach to mention your first name without permission, but a breach of the DPA, it isn't.

Best way to contact a mod, is to report it via "report msg" and hopefully they will clear up this thread and get it back on-topic.

Hear, hear. I, for one, regret taking the bait and squabbling with Turvey. He is certainly entitled to his opinion, as are we all, but I think what he really wants may just be attention.

There are some in here that would settle for a civil, open and productive conversation. Demonizing is bad enough. Throwing people's names around is a profound breach of etiquette at the very least. And from people who call themselves "professional." WTF! Ember is right, "they" will clean up this mess and if it doesn't get cleaned up, it'll sink into obscurity at the end of the month. I did a little experiment... I shut off internet based ads, no third party ads and then required ad moderation. I only run text based ads BTW.

I allowed it to run like this for a month, as painful as it was.

Recently, I took the ad moderation off, opened up the internet based ads again, I am accepting all third party ads and switch all units to text and images. My earnings doubled - but it's only been two weeks.

The only one I have messed with is this one: "Social ads - show +1 related features and social annotations in ads"

Anyone played around with that?

BTW -- I have used adsense since it's inception. I'm not a newb -- but I'm also not hardcore. Just trying to share my experience.

I've found that generally Google knows what it is doing (not always but most of the time). They have way more experience and data than I ever will. They say to let everything run because it will increase competition among advertisers and increase bids and my revenue. That concept works for me. When I've tried to be clever by turning off image ads or enhanced ads or whatever, my earnings suffer.

IIRC, we do not get paid for Social ads.

No. However, the +1 button may increase the overall CTR of ads, since +1 annotations will show users which of their friends recommend that URL. This helps to fight banner blindness. +1 interactions also help AdSense to display more relevant ads to a user’s friends, causing CPMs to rise over time.

I couldn't give a URL, but if you click on the ? next to where it says "Social ads – show +1 related features and social annotations in ads" a pop-up will appear. In that pop-up is a link which gives a lot more info than what I gave.

Back on topic with the title: today is slow, perhaps stuck because only 4 clicks have been repoted and it's noon.

My PVs are fine however so far I have had an extremely low click volume therefore my CTR looks way out of whack, my EPC average is also on the very low side but that could easily be that I have only registered very few clicks from the US so far.

This month has been so bad, it's looking like the my first month with AdSense 10 years ago! If not YouTube earnings, I wouldn't make the monthly payout threshold. PERPLEXED

JCKline sorry to hear that, it sucks. This month has been weird, not looking so good here, whole 2013 has been weird but there are worst stories.
