Today is the highest earning AdSense day I've had in many, many months. Overall, August has been returning above average earnings for me, but today it's close to making September 2008 numbers. Hope it stays this way. Thanks Google!

Looks like it is. Every time these hamsters "fix" something, they manage to banjax something else and it is the publishers that suffer.

Stats were stuck in the morning. Things are starting to pick up now, 4:06 pm Pacific Time, but slowly. School already started didn't it? In the US?

Aug 24th closed as the #3 highest earning AdSense day since joining way back in 2004, some 2100 days ago! So much for the AdSense blindness theories - from what I'm seeing now, when the ads are good people still click.

Something has changed, that's for sure, comparing 1st-14th August v 15th-24th August my actual daily click volume and CTR has increased by ~22%.

@HuskyPup
For me it looks like the upswing started on Aug. 12th. Been above and (way above!) average ever since. :-)

The 12th was a normal click day for me with a low EPC, I suppose I could say the 13th with a normal click day but with a good EPC however the big change was 14th with a sudden 15.5% eCPM jump and it's not fallen back since...I bet that's put a curse on it!

Tuesday was slow in the morning but caught up after 4pm. Super good day but not record breaking. This Wednesday morning, the hamsters appear to be on meth. Something must be chasing them. Upswing continues... Will update.

My biggest site fell into the doldrums in late June. July was miserable. The second half of August has perked back up substantially. Looking forward to September and the fall.

Still going strong. No records broken, but nearly double the "old" average - amazing!

25th I had my highest click day of the year however the EPC was below average and several domains recorded clicks yet zero earnings.

It'll be interesting to see if these ever appear after yesterday's on/off stuck stats.

@HuskyPup
My daily earnings have just about doubled the last couple of weeks, which is fantastic! Of course, I've had no shortage of days/weeks/months prior to this upswing where earnings have been very low. Back in September 2008 I had a similar upswing, but by October it was over which made me wonder if some kind of 'correction' was going on in September. At the time I also continued to work on my site which may or may not have messed everything up, so this time I'm trying not to change a thing and see what happens. If next month earnings drop back to the old levels, then at least I'll know it wasn't because of something I did!

Frustrating but it still does not get you any closer as to why you have a sudden surge.

Which sector are you in? Anything whatsoever possibly seasonal? From where is the majority of your traffic?

Has Google changed something, are they allowing more clicks through because they were too stringent?

If past years are anything to go by I should have a steady rise in traffic and earnings up until Thanks Giving, a levelling off and then a steady decline during December towards Xmas and then a steady increase from the middle to end of the first week of January rising all the way through to May/june.

Yes that's true. My daily traffic really hasn't changed all that much, so I'm thinking this must somehow be on Google's end. My eCPM is up about 20% over last month and I'm getting more daily clicks, so that may explain the boost in earnings. Why this is happening now roughly around the same time as the new AdSense layouts seems more than just a coincidence. Glad to see things going upwards for a change, it's very encouraging! :-)

The new Adsense layout is doing about 20% better for us across the board, so that is a likely explanation.

You seem to have rubbish earnings most days, jmccormac; surprised you're not off AdSense and on to something else by now. I would, if I were having that much trouble with it.

HuskyPup

so that is a likely explanation.

I'm sceptical about that since I have been running the 728 x 90 new layout for a while and I am seeing an increase across all types of ads with some of my AdLinks performing extraordinarily well, quite simply I am seeing it across the board, not one single unit/link doing much better than it used to.

Only on some days and on some sites Netmeg.
Not all of us are as in awe of Google as you are and most of us will keep building and improving sites whereas others would give up.

They also updated their 336x280 and 300x250 ad units. Not just the 728x90.

Yep but my AdLinks earnings have increased by the same proportion, maybe better, and they've not altered at all...maybe an upturn is happening...for the moment?

We've seen income double over the last two weeks, and I haven't touched anything on the website related to Adsense in months. In fact, the vast majority of the extra income is from pages that haven't been touched in years. So the assumption around here is that it's all due to the new ad formats.

The running joke around here now is that we'll either get an account rep or we'll get kicked out of Adsense. I'm leaning towards the latter:-( The funny part is we have no way to contact them to point out the huge increase and ask if they're sure they know what they're doing.

Haven't come around here for a long time, just thought I'd drop in and see if the changes were just us. Glad to see they aren't. Maybe I'll be back next month to comment on the new "Our account was closed for excessive earnings" thread.

Stats seem to be rebounding compared to the last few days. I broke out a blocklist from 2009 just on a hunch that the targeting was a bit borked after the recent maintenance window. It may have worked but the next few days will tell.

Yesterday was another high point in AdSense history here and is easily the best month since Sept 2008! Had the upswing started at the beginning of the month instead of the last two weeks, this might have been the highest earning month ever. Thanks Google! :-)

For me yesterday went back to pre-Friday 13th CTR and eCPM and today is continuing the same. Obviously the Plex are reading this thread and decided my August bonus needed to come to an end:-(
