Page impressions double normal, CTR 50% of normal, earnings right where they should be...

Am I the only one experiencing this today? Did Google change the way they're counting impressions? My server logs don't show a big increase in traffic.

AdSense sure has had a lot of glitches lately... my eCPM is down a bit yesterday and today, not sure if it's related.

I noticed my impressions were way up yesterday, but so were the clicks. Attributed it to catching up the week, because the previous two days were abnormally low (I *absolutely* believe these things aren't all reported 'real time' or even 'same day') Taking a seven day normalized view of stats they were - normal.

Yes. And my feeling about this is, if they were really honest they would be more, well, honest. Even if their intentions are pure, which can be debated, they should realize that such manipulation engenders distrust and resentment.

CTR so far down today by 50%. CPM down by a wapping 70%. Maybe a glitch in late reporting. If things doesn't improve better I will remove more Adsense code and find more direct advertisers.

I am looking forward when Google reports the 1st quarter results.

I'm seeing a decrease as well, and today is looking like a "bad" day compared to the rest of the week, but that said on Monday everything shot up and it's been by far the best week in a long time. Even this "bad" day is very good compared to a good day in previous weeks.

It really is like someone flicks a switch at the Googleplex sometimes. :)

Same here. Total page impressions should equal the number of impressions for an ad unit that appears on all the pages - yesterday it was double that, today so far it looks like it's triple.

Money and impressions for individual ads seem normal, but of course click through rate is down.

Yeah, they just figured their payouts and the end of Q1 is upon us... if my suspicions are right this is all too obvious.

I'm with Edge, except I started replacing AdSense with better paying ads yesterday morning before the impression error started.

It does seem that they are counting ad impressions instead of page impressions, so if you have 2 AdSense ads per page, you are seeing double the real number of impressions and half the CTR and CPM. With 3 ads per page, you are seeing 3 times the correct amounts. It wasn't as obvious yesterday since the error didn't start until the middle of the day.

I am really fed up with Google at the moment...

I see the same problem as well.

Adsense imps are double what I'm seeing on Google Analytics (with Adsense integration) and on the logfiles.

Clicks are normal.

you could be right dataguy. We only have one ads per page and I am not seeing this problem.

Mostly one ad per page here, too, page impressions normal, CTR slightly down yesterday and today.

I dunno. Impressions high again today, but so's the traffic. One day, even one week, does not make a trend.

I'm pretty sure it's mainly a sync issue - at the moment, I have a bunch of clicks on one of my custom search engines with NO queries.

We would like to apologize for the improper stats you have been getting for the last couple of days.

On a side note you will notice a 75% decrease in revenues. It seems your CTR was too low and we have now smartpriced you.

Have a nice day

LOL

I'm waiting for the G folks to come down from their golden clouds to offer the standard G explanation how it was just a little technical glitch and it didn't affect on earnings, CTR, ECPM, impressions, publishers, smart pricings, or sweet tasty innocent bunny rabbits in any way.

Ok, they added queries to the search stats, but took away the clicks (never saw that one before)

My impressions and CTR look weird too but I'm not going to whine. I'm having the best day for a loooongg time, so Google, please don't "fix" that ;-)

I anticipate the problem as being "ad" stats being reported as "page" stats. However, I work with two sites (accounts), one of which just yesterday and the day before created new ads and new channels. The site that has had no changes is reporting as usual. The site with the new ads and channels is the one reporting elevated impression stats.

My impressions are high but the CTR is way off and my earnings are way off for what they should be with impressions etc., am I the only one still seeing this today? Any clue what is wrong?

Thanks ASA. Spikes like these make us (well, me) a little nervous in these times.

We just posted to the Inside AdSense blog (the post is called, "Pageview tracking back to normal.")

You can read the details of the issue there, but basically our system was temporarily registering a pageview for each ad unit instead of for each page with ad units on it.

The issue is now resolved, and you were properly credited for earnings from clicks and impressions during that time.

Ok, I've agreed to test 3 competing ad products during the past 30 hours while the reports were broken. Have I mentioned that I'm fed up with Google?

What would we do without WebmasterWorld? Starting on the 24th my PIs made a big jump and today I broke my all-time record for PIs. However, CTR is at an all-time low, so that countered my initial excitement.

I was doing my best to figure out why PIs were up so much and CTR was down so much. And then I came here to discover it is an Adsense glitch. Oh well, I should have checked this forum sooner.
