Will Many Advertisers Pause their Campaigns?

Is it a generally safe assumption to think that a lot of advertisers pause their campaigns over this long weekend?

my CTR is about half of what it normally is today so hopefully this is just delayed stats updates.

I dont think there is any delay on CTR. My CTR looks very normal :)

Unfortunately, eCPM drops by 1/3 :(

My AdSense CTR in is normally between 40% and 55% (26 days in August were in this range).
I have the odd "Bad Day" when it drops to about 30% to 35%. Today it is only 18%. :-(

These are remarkable metrics however how long have you been running AdSense?

Is it relatively recent?

If so, possibly your regular visitors have gotten used to seeing the same or similar ads.

How many AdSense Page Impressions do you have per day?

If this has been your CTR for 6-12 months with more than a few thousand daily Page Impressions then I think we all need to visit you for a lesson:-)

Average 50% CTR?

The norm is 5%

You must really be shooting fish in a barrel to get that!

Nah, wish I was. Mind you, I only saw this on a couple of pages, but still weird.

If you are using a particular puppy then you are shooting fish in a barrel. Yes you will get 50% CTR on special puppy ads.

If that is it, your other daily numbers can't be very high just your CTR. So you get 50 clicks normally and you are down to 9 that is your gripe?

Seems I should be happy with what I have!

I have only been running my site for just over 2 months and see around 500 visits a day - mostly new visitors. Currently, nearly all of my traffic is via AdWords, so it seems no surprise to me that a surfer who has alreadt clicked an Ad to find my page is 50% likely to click another Ad on my page.

My content is relevant to my Ads and (generally) attracts appropraite AdSense Ads.

Maybe it's all about my site "bedding in" but I still don't understand what causes my stats to fall so much today. The only explanation I can think of is that there are no ads showing on may pages (or PSA) or for some reason, my Ads have suddenly gone "off target"

In the United States, September 3rd is a Sunday before a Monday that is a major holiday, Labor Day.

I went to a famous and highly regarded aquarium today and it was packed with more people than I've ever seen there before. People were five deep at some of the exhibits.

Coincidence?

I'd expect Labor Day weekend in America to lead to a drop in traffic (which it did)

I can't explain how labour day in America would cause my Page CTR in Australia to fall by more than half.

Plus, I think that Ernesto messed lots of people's weekend all up the entire east coast.

My European travel site's traffic has been surprisingly strong this weekend, possibly because (1) it caters to an international audience, (2) many university students are back in school, and (3) September is a month when people have returned from their summer vacations and thinking about fall vacations and weekend getaways.

On the downside, eCPM is down somewhat from August, though it's better than June's eCPM and close to July's.

Our family has a number of Labor Day outings/events that we look forward to each year... we attended NONE of them this year!

Dunno if it was a Labor day effect, but I had a huge leap in traffic, but really low pays outs creating a below average day all told.
But that is on the back of a fantastic August, so one has to be careful with what is being compared.

I run a travel site and had a fantastic weekend - Monday (Labor Day) being the strongest day of all. Both traffic and AdSense revenues were up. If I had to guess I would say it's people starting to plan there winter holidays.

I had a great weekend, especially Monday, tons of traffic to make up for a somewhat low EPCM. Steve Irwin's death also had an impact on one of my main sites which has lots of Australian and US visitors. Actually, all of my sites, at least a little, deal with animals so I was bound to catch some extra visitors from folks looking for news or THE video.
