Videos in Yahoo PPC Ads Labelled "Partner Results"

I just saw a commercial that said to go to Yahoo and search for "shop honda". When you do the search, Honda shows up in the as a "partner result" and all other PPC seems to be restricted.

If you click the image, a video pops up over the page. This is something I've never seen before in Yahoo. Has anyone else seen this before?

Yes, they have been doing this for a while. This is the first time they labelled them partner results. So I am happy about that at least.

Their regular text PPC is not called ads either but labeled somewhat confusingly "sponsor results."

So can you buy exclusive rights to a search term, as in the only sponsor at the top?

Since it drives people to Yahoo, and since Yahoo is fighting their ever lowering search market share, I'd guess Honda got some great "concessions" for their ppc-like costs to be there.

And in a deal like this, Honda wouldn't want ads shown next to theirs, so yeah, you can buy these kinds of things.

I wonder if Yahoo paid Honda for the placement. From a marketing perspective, why would you want someone to have to go to Yahoo and remember to search for 'shop honda' when you could just tell them to go directly to a URL?
