yahoo bid landscape question

following from my previous post - the following listings are appearing on yahoo for 'airport', am i correct in assuming listing 7. is standard (exact) matched and 8. is advanced (broad) matched which is causing the lower max bid to appear higher - also would any other factors be involved in this?

You are correct about the standard/advanced match theory.

How the advanced match listings are chosen isn't clear to me at the moment. I'm sure this has changed recently. The Quality index may have some bearing.

I'm not sure all searches are being filled in with advanced match and I've even seen some where only 1 listing has been added when similar terms have plenty added.

thanks mywifesays, so you're saying there is possibly a yahoo quality score with undisclosed rules involved? if i was advertiser 2 on my example i wouldn't be happy! Does anyone have any insight into this, i've had a search and found no information about this

Yes, Overture's lack of the equivalent of Google's phrase match is a big problem. You select advanced match and you've no idea where you're being listed.

If just the two match types persist when the new version arrives soon and standard match listings will not even have preference over advanced matched listings (http://searchenginewatch.com/showPage.html?page=3623527) then there will be all sorts of issues.

For example, how will they stop advanced match listings being displayed for trademarked terms?
