Positive on my 2 word Key phrases jumping as much as 10 spots in the results.

Negative or no movement on 3 and 4 work key phrases.

Just did a positioning search for one of my domains and noticed a significant algo change. Seems keyword in domain is heavily weighted atm and inbound anchor text is being devalued in my sector. Further analysis anyone?

Yahoo seeing some changes today. Recently posted on the Yahoo Search Blog. [ysearchblog.com...]

Time for an update. Now we will see how the chips fall.

I'm seeing some weird changes. For example with one of the phrases I track, duplicate or near duplicate content is being ranked on page one. There is an article that appeared in both USAToday and on CNET and both are in top 10 and then there is an ecommerce store who has a .ca version which is not word for word the same but it is the same site and both are up there. On eon page one and the .ca version on page 2.

I have seen negative drops on at least one site but don't have a reason for it yet.

Something is screwed up. My listing in Yahoo, when hovering over...shows [a different URL]Instead of my actual URL.

It's hard to guage the update as long as there are all those groups-beta.google.com and spaces.msn.com garbage results all over the place. Those two entities get something in the top 20 of everything that somebody targets.

Yahoo would have a considerably better engine if they just gave a total death sentence to those two domains.

agreed Steveb. The financial sectors are flooded with that junk. I am seeing 50 - 75% of the top 20 like this.

Yahoo! is very bad with trust rank. We have picked up some very good one way links and content articles. Yahoo! pushes Every kw we target in our articles/links way down in rankings. As though they are penalizing for kw matching in links.

Yahoo seems to be on a six week cycle [webmasterworld.com] with respect to these updates...

Any indication of the impact?

One of our sites has fallen big time. Might be duplicate content or stagnant updates.

The more I look at these results the more I saw "what are they thinking." These are some of the most random results I have ever seen. Zero duplicate content filtering.

It looks like they turned the link factor WAY down and page factors are ruling the rankings.

I have 2 links from Y First Page resuls almost in every keyword combination in my niche. too bad thouse widgets have been out of stock for atleast 12 month and there for there are no links to them from within the site. The only links that are pointing to thouse pages are from MFAs that use Yahoo scraped content.

I don't mind at all. My main site holds strong, for the past god knows how long.

I have noticed more domination of wikipedia than before in new SERP for generic or common keywords.

Well it looks like yahoo has settled down and well we are back where we stared.

IMHO, what works in Google definitely doesn't work in Yahoo.

The above statement doesn't mean you can't have top positions in both. However, if you become <b>too greedy</b> in getting top positions in Google, you might spoil your exposure in Yahoo.

It seems that following Brett's advice at [webmasterworld.com...] helps to obtain good positions in Google, Yahoo and even MSN.

more domination of wikipedia

Same here in community listings. Wiki isn't bad--we get a lot of traffic from it, but, sheee, it's not the best source in most cases. Nine times out of ten, when wikipedia is number one, the search engine isn't doing its job.

In our industry the best sites are not in the top 30 which are completely ruled by non relevant urls, outdated stuff and link collections.

Yahoo search does not send any traffic.

But what I have seen for my case is the conversion rate is much high in yahoo than Google..

Any one else on the same page....

We get plenty of traffic in Yahoo. Well now actually we don't anymore. Now it all goes to Cnet, USAToday, Wiki, Etc...

My sites ranking started to drop on 23rd and is fluctuating between positions a lot more yesterday and today.

Search Results for my keywords are very poor. Lot of junk sites in top 20.

I have sent several SPAM reports...but see no action. yawn....
