Is Yahoo following us?

basing ads on where we have been online?

I was just on a Yahoo Group page and at the top was an ad for Nextag and it displayed three pairs of shoes one of which were the very shoes I ordered two days ago from Endless. The topic of the Yahoo Group is totally unrelated to shoes so it obviously wasn't targeted to the page I was on.

It has me wondering if Yahoo is following us around the Internet and basing the ads shown on where we have been online.

I believe that the Yahoo Groups TOS page still contains reference to web beacons. So, the answer to your question would be "Yes" if you have not opted out.

If memory serves me correctly, opting out is pretty much a temporary and futile gesture, so an unqualified "Yes" might be more in order.

Be advised, I have not lookes at the TOS in probably a year, so things might have changed.

I am pretty sure I did turn it off but it was some time ago.

I guess it doesn't matter that much, just kind of bugs me.
