Since last month, my number of impressions has increased 10x, number of clicks increased 5x. Yet RPC is down 60% and earnings are up only 2x. Earnings are nowhere near last years levels - 60-70% less.
Strange, YPN won't even let me pull up last years data and I do know what I was making last year. What kind of crap is this?
If YPN wants high quality websites, then where's the reward? Here I bust my balls off all year only to see this kind of return on my efforts. And where are my sites in the Yahoo SERPs? Nowhere to be found.
After a year of being with YPN, I am very disappointed.
As far as contacting YPN, I sent a few messages to them several months ago and all went unanswered. One of my last messages to them was actually a suggestion with a different twist on advertising. Funny how this week they climbed into bed with newspaper companies (rolls eyes).
YPN consists of quality websites. YPN publishing sites should be listed high in the SERPs.
"So you doubled your earnings but still started a thread to whine about it? Jeez, some people are greedy... "
Greedy? Read again. I'm off 70-80% off levels from last year. From levels of last month, I have 2x times earnings on 10x impressions, 5x clicks, RPC 60% down. That does not translate to 2x earnings in my book. Earnings should be way up on those numbers.
Chances are, that is what is happening - your sector is getting diluted by other publishers/websites who thought, hey, that's a nice money making idea... I'll do that!
Other 'problems' might consist of:
- Advertisers bidding less
- Major advertisers which were there last year simply jumped ship
- Your impressions aren't 'quality' in the eyes of YPN thus aren't showing the higher quality ads
- Are you geotargeting? If not, you should definitely invest your time into implementing some sort of geotargeting system. YPN only pays for clicks made from within the USA.
You also said your impressions climbed 10x, but the clicks only climbed 5x. Why is this? Are you targeting something different, your visitors coming from somewhere else, etc? Usually that isn't a good sign. The impressions and CTR should climb together, if they aren't - there is usually a problem with either the type of visitors your site is receiving or possibly the new keywords you are targeting. As well, the geotargeting might help in this instance. Are you showing YPN ads to all your visitors, or just the ones inside the USA? That could be apart of the problem if you are showing to everyone.
Have you tried other publisher networks? It seems that YPN is your only program you are in from what you have discussed. Try out Adsense, Adbrite or one of the other networks.
