XML, XSL, and Google Indexing

I'm currently working on a site that has important content in both the XML file, and the XSL file that transforms it.

My question is, does google index content in both of those files?

This Google search:

filetype:xml +the

indicates that XML documents may be indexed, and this one:

filetype:xsl +the

likewise indicates that XSL(T) documents can be indexed.

Of course, many HTML documents do not get indexed, so it would surprising if there were not also situations where XML or XSL(T) documents do not get indexed.

XML and XSL files are often processed in server and not visible over the web, in this case they obviously can not be indexed but resultant html will be. The alernative of sending XML and XSL to client is possible, in which case assumably XML and not HTML will be indexed, for better or otherwise, probably otherwise.
