How is India dealing with privacy of its citizens? Do you also have laws about it? I loosely remember of a law , from may be 2010/2011 about the collection/transmission of personal data form Indian citizens to companies outside of India.

It will sound harsh, but: The question isn't whether India has laws. The question is whether they enforce laws. You need to look at actual practice rather than simply what's on the books.
