There already is a Social Media category [webmasterworld.com]. What’s wrong with it?

It is already a forum. So admin does not take advises, he can not? Why do you have a fear of change? I know the category but i said, is not it better to take care what we have as social media platform and name them a better way. What did you see as a problem in my advice? It is not fear of change that determines Forum topics, it is whether a topic fits with our discussions. No, we don't jump on every possible social media platform as something we need to discuss. This site is a service to the web site administrator community. We are here for WebmasterWorld members to discuss the process of doing business on the Internet. Running a website takes a great deal of knowledge. The design, coding, maintenance, promotion, marketing, and management of a website is almost an impossible task for one person alone without extensive training. We are here as a forum for the members to share and gain knowledge in operating and promoting a website.

Another point about creating a specific forum: there needs to be there enough discussion on that topic to make it worthwhile.

Social Media, too, will eventually shrivel and fade. Fact of life. Just as some from the Age of Dinosaurs are still successful on Planet Earth, FORUMS will fill a specific niche that Social Media cannot.

This is a popular culture idea.You have intention to think common idea of people.But why do not think about that fact that it is easy to build a social media website and bring it to where facebook is.We are not a pop song cocaine model to have many clothes to change it everyday.So we should know how valuable is the thing on our hand.

I doubt anyone is afraid, but if people don't talk about it enough in the generic forums it's doesn't justify a forum on it's own.

As you're new here I guess you're not used to how this forum works, and if there's enough discussion most of the forums you see were created as a result. In addition, where we find there's not enough on that topic it'll get rolled into a generic forum. It's been happening many time at WebmasterWorld in the years,

Privacy, security, ownership. FB is a third party who controls the landscape. WW is not restricted by third party limitations or sufferance (or monetization BY facebook).

The other problem with social media is "noise". A few of us just don't have the time for that.

Not "fear"------"community", "commonsense", "comfort level", and "useful" come to mind.
