Eric Ward was a part of the history of our industry. A true trailblazer. I had the honor of sharing the stage with him many years ago at PubCon and recall enjoying listening to him share tips such as link reclamation and so on. I was impressed by his grace and kindness. Very down to earth.

Obituary here. [obits.dignitymemorial.com]

He will surely be missed by many.

That's sad news to hear of Eric's passing, and especially so at his relatively young age.

So sad he's gone... I started following his work closely this year and got that feeling of excitement like when you finally find the author all your gurus got their first spark of wisdom from. And now this... :(

Danny Sullivan has organized a fund raiser to help his family.

The goal is to raise enough money so that Eric's family is covered for the next six months to a year, as they deal with this tragedy. Money should be the last thing they need to worry about during this time.
