There's another HDMI standard on the way early next year, HDMI 2.1a.
I've given up trying to keep up. If it plugs and goes, just great. If it's doesn't, I mess around with the leads for as bit, and then i give up and use another interface.

For the most part backwards compatibility works ... which means the older versions get CHEAP mighty quick. :)
