Laptop hard drive replacement

Ive just pulled apart a laptop to replace a failed hard drive. The laptop is only three years old but already I'm struggling to find a replacement. I found the drive reference, and i found the laptop on the manufactuers site.
Nowhere, so far, can I find the exact hard drive recommended replacement.
Note, i do not want to put in an SSD and would prefer to keep the cost down with a like-for-like hard drive direct replacement.

Any ideas where to turn?

Any internal 2"5 HDD should do it.

Any 2.5 HDD should be able to replace your failed drive. Take a reasonable size for the amount of data you expect to store and personally I would prefer a 7200 RPM version over 5400 RPM because of less track-to-track latency.

I'll see what deals i can get, although I'm reluctant to get another WD drive as it appears those devices appear to have a poor record.

It's a Lenovo PC with WD HD of 1Tb.

Note, it's a cheap PC so that's another reason for not spending much on it.

A friend who works part-time in tech retail has stopped recommending them, even if they are the cheapest PC available. Too many boomerangs as he calls them.

The bricks coming back are mostly in 1 yr warranty and the disgruntled owners want his local [big box] shop to make good on it. Yelling ensues, esp by boomers. Not fun...
