Laptop - two users one black screen

Black screen on one log in other ok.

I have an HP laptop that both my wife and myself use. It has two logins. Just recently, when I log in all I get is a black screen. Windows is running in the background but nothing is displayed. When I log in as my wife there is no problem. I searched online and there are suggestions about video drivers, etc. but would this be the problem when it is OK on one of the log ins? Any ideas?

Difficult to determine what's happening, but if you are getting no screen it will be impossible to fix while in that account.

Try this...
Use Admin and create a new user & credentials (or just use Admin for your account.) If that works OK, either don't use your old username any longer or delete it entirely.

Thank you Keyplyr, as it happens that is exactly what I have done. I could open Task Manager in that account so I realised that it was running, just not displaying. After spending most of yesterday searching Google and trying several things I found this suggestion on another site. It was a bit of a Pita and it took a wee bit of setting up (Outlook email accounts, etc.) but, fingers crossed, it now seems to be OK.
