HP has reported that some of its batteries in laptops are subject to a safety recall. These are all models with integrated batteries that users cannot change. HP will pay for replacement batteries at authorised service centers.

There's a handy utillity on the recall page which tests your battery to see if it's one of the affected models, and then, if it is one of the models, gives you the option of turning the battery off, making the product usable only with power connected.
