The best thing you can do is read the Terms of Services and other legal documents you agreed to when signing up with this hosting company. Legal advice is not something we are used to to provide here on this board, especially not in this hardware forum. You may want to consult a local lawyer about this issue instead.

If those are their terms I suspect you only have two options: pay or move to a new host. There are small resellers that might grant an exemption, so it depends on the host as well. Have you asked them for a break? If it is a big block host, I would pay or move.

Actually, this IS a legal question and it depends on what your local laws say. (Unless you are asking if you are ethically obligated to pay, in which case it's up to your own personal ethics if you are going to pay or not.)

It all comes down to what is specified by the TOS. If the TOS says you have to pay for the months while suspended, then that's what you have to do. If the TOS doesn't say anything, then it's apparently open to negotiation with your hosting company.
