512e/4K hard drives

I was pricing a new workstation and noticed that in addition to SATA drives I was being given the option of choosing 512e/4K drives (Advanced Format drives). Is there any benefit to choosing these newer drives? Any downsides?

I made the mistake of choosing SAS (Serial attached SCSI) drives on an earlier machine. They spin at 15K RPM, but they're small and expensive. Finding additional drives and replacements was a huge hassle.

Depends if you think that in your usage the RMW issue will give you problems ..personally I would not go for them due to this factor..anything that increases the possibility of errors is IMO a "bad thing"..

This machine will be running Windows 8, so I won't need separate drivers?

I've perused that Wikipedia article, but I'm still not sure if this sort of drive is too cutting edge or not? (My SAS drives apparently were.) Should I stick with 7200RPM SATA? Some of these 512e/4K drives apparently spin at 10K RPM.
