Computer won't start on video driver.

Computer wont start with the video driver installed, but only in safemode.

Yesterday, i gave fast clicks on desktop, minimizing windows etc.
Then it freeze, and when i restarted it, it wouldn't give me any video signal. I hear the windows logon music, but there's no image.

The only way i can run it, is in Safe-mode. There, if i uninstall the Graphic adapter. The computer starts starts normally, using the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. If i install the video driver, it just wouldn't give me any video signal. I have asked on Nvidia support, and they said that the card may be defect.

Also.. i notice that the power and reset buttons work kinda slow.. o.O

Edit: Also, when i first tok the graphics card out, it was doing something alike this. But there was no video signal at all!

I took it out and put it back.. then, the 3rd time i did that, it worked. Now, i took it out, and cant make it work. I am using the onboard video card. Didnt even know there is one, or i just forgot.

Depending on the OS there is an option on start-up to roll back changes. It may sound like 'start with last known good settings' (older) or 'restore last saved (previous) configuration' or similar.

More details may get a more detailed response. Sounds like a registry edit may be needed in addition to the driver swap.

Check the motherboard manufacturer's website for a user troubleshooting forum and possibly a down-loadable BIOS update.

sounds like a defective card, can you go back to a not the newest driver package and test that out?

With the VGA drivers can you get the card to do a proper resolution? Just asking because if you can maybe run the card for a while with the crappy drivers... if it runs fine over ----period of time---- then when you install drivers and it goes back to instantly pitching a fit... it could be drivers not agreeing with it. Which would mean start playing wack a mole with driver versions till you find a fit.

also what kinda motherboard are you running? maybe some corrupted board drivers? I recently had to reinstall my north bridge drivers because i kept getting machine exceptions.

Lots to poke at with this one... but gota start somewhere.

You might want to try uninstalling the video card drivers and let the OS reinstall them again from scratch to make sure they aren't corrupt.

I recently had a high end gamers video card smoke because the onboard fan died and it was having serious heat related issues, seemed to have some permanent damage. If you're having a similar problem then all you're really doing is just letting the card cool down when you take it all apart and put it back together. Once it heats up again it'll malfunction once more.

Before i created the topic i completely formated the drive and it was the same as soon as i was installing the driver.

It has the right drivers. I used the ones from the disk that come with the PC, and the latest one from nvidia.

It is the video card. Now it wont give any signal.

When i first got it out, it did the same. I had to get it in and out till i inserted it properly. For some reason it doesnt get in the slot properly.... It gets in, but doesnt seem to make the connection well.

I have taken it out and used the onboarded card. I might try to put it back in at some point. Maybe i figure out the magic position..

making a connection in the slot shouldn't be any issue at all, can you post a link to a pic of the exact card?

do other cards work flawlessly ruling out the motherboard slot?

unless something on the card is getting hung and you aren't noticing.... which is totally possible because some of those big cards are a B*** to wrestle into the slot, every tab seems to want to catch on anything it can until... POOF perfectly flaps in.

I've got one machine i hate taking the card out for that very reason, I know im going to do it 3 times.

you could also try inserting angry card into another machine and see how it behaves.

What do you mean.. i do not have a spare video crd, and i cannot test that.

I also do not have another machine.
The video card in the links is red. mine is black, but it is the same type and it looks the same. just the colour difference.

welllllllllllll thats pretty straight forward then, the only wild thing I can throw out there is if that chipset heat sink is high enough to collide with the big heat sink of the card and keep it from fully inserting.

i'd say thats one heck of a slim chance but im working with pictures :-P .

other wise it sounds like flakey card just finally gave up.
