Recover files from Formated partition.

Like 2 days ago i have re-formated my C// drive as i reinstalled my Windows7.

I forgot to Recover my www folder where i had my site stuff. I have had a lot of code that i wrote there, and a phpbb database which i have worked months to create posting post by post manually, to re create a database for some old forums.

The directory was: C://wamp/www/

How did you format it? Did you zero-fill it?

You can always try to mount the partition using a Linux live CD to extract the text files, or there are other various recovery tools available.

but depending on how thorough of a job you did with the formatting, total recovery may not be likely.

I formated it using the Format option when installing windows. I formated C from there and installed win again. As i reinstalled wamp, the directory exists now. Would that cause a problem?

Is it possible?
Should i consider a small chance of recovering them, or should i just give up and move on? =((

If you performed a Quick Format there are chances you can recover those files, try to use following tool it has an easy UI: EaseUS

It can allow you upto 1 GB of file recovery for free..

I already have that program. I dont know if the files are there, or i am just to stupid to find them. I also have iCare Data Recovery Software. They seem to work the same way.

once you quick format a HD it just forgets where the data is located, the data is still there.

Important part is the more you goof with the drive the less data you'll be able to pull off of it.

hook it up as a secondary drive, choose your tool, and cross your fingers.

[piriform.com...] is pretty simple.

Thanks mate. I recovered some trash .php file that isnt any good to me.
All the crap tools the i did in time are lost. I would have to start it over and i dont really feel like it.

Do you have a time machine? Iff so, go back in time and tell me this:
"Backup your #*$!ing www folder before you reformat the pc, you I.D.I.O.T !"

If you're particularly forgetful of things like this, then you should set up something that automatically backs up your work at a specific time every day, for example. That way you set it up once and it's done.

I have made all necessary backups. I was ready to copy and paste the folder over the other partition, but after i completed the win installation, i figured out that they are nowhere to find =(

I happened a couple times to forget backup in some things too. I used old backups in the end. But at this things i have no backups.

daily backups and biweekly disk images. No faster way to get you back on your feet then just hitting "go" on an image restore.
