windows Netbook or windows slate for working during commute

Hi All

I am on the verge of going for either a cheap netbook or getting Dells windows precision duo netbook/slate

I was wondering if folk have found slates like the ipad significantly easier to use while commuting

I am thinking i'd find a netbook or laptop harder to handle than a slate while on a bus or train,

well it depends on what you are doing, i myself find it much better to have a keyboard and a screen I don't have to hold up or look down onto.

netbooks work for me, for me a slate would be next to useless.

i have been trying out

net books, the dell duo, ipad

the easiest to use is the ipad , as machine is strictly for stats digging, blogging and writing, its kinda okay, but the touch screen system is probably something of an acquired taste

I'd love to get the dell duo, but I think, it will need a major service pack update from microsoft to fix it to ipad level, plus the touch screen is not quite ipad level

so for now, i think i must settle for a netbook, some of them seem slow, but the samsungs seem fast, however, the acer aspire is my fave co its screen flexes all the way till its flat, making it a bit of a slate

Anyone have an acer aspire netbook out there ?

I've got a netbook and an ipad. The netbook hasn't been turned on in months.

I'm not sure if it's good for 'work', but it's great for surfing and doing emails, that type of thing. The netbook simply has too small a screen and a keyboard to make it useful. All the worst qualities of a laptop with none of the benefits.

i have an hp mini 311, anything smaller then that is no good.

actually i 've just found the hp 210 mini to be just the ticket, best performance i found in the superstore

yea some of those really cheapy netbooks are WAY to small. I really like my mini 311, and it has nvidia ION so it plays HD video. It also comes with windows 7 and not old outdated XP!

this is the best portable computer i've ever owned.

Yah, I was wondering why the movie it was playing seemed so bizzarely sharp, the shop did not push the HD capability which I latter discovered online, perhaps just as well :)

looked up the 210... seems it doesn't have nvidia ION but rather something called

Broadcom(R) Crystal HD Video accelerator

also noticed it has DDR3 as well so that is another bonus....just a shame it doesn't have 2 DIMMs so you can run DDR3 dual channel.
