320gb hdd only 150gb?

Hi,

I just bought a 320gb sata hdd and installed windows xp but it only shows 150gb. the rest is unused, I read somewhere that xp cant see hdd over 120gb unless you install sp1. I installed sp2 but still the same. do I have to install sp1 as well and will it recognize the rest of the hdd automatically after? or do I have to do somthing else like use partition magic ect..

There were limits on partition sizes with Windows XP when using the FAT32 file system. For instance XP couldn't format volumes larger than 32GB, but would recognize larger volumes. There was a 127GB limit in XP due to the ScanDisk utility.

If you went with NTFS instead you'd be able to have larger partitions recognized by the OS.
