We currently have a software firewall running on our windows web server. The server is co-located. Our traffic and business continues to grow, so we are thinking the next logical step would be a hardware device to handle router/switch functionality as well as firewall functionality. We are also adding another server to the mix which is why I need the router/switch functionality.

We currently serve up roughly - 20gb per day - 15,000 visits per day - 500,000 pages - 4,500,000 hits - max of 500 concurrent connections. We expect to double or triple these numbers in the coming year.

I am looking for recommendations on a device that will:

1. Handle this load and growth.
2. Have Intrusion Detection and (Anti-Virus as it relates to web only - I dont need Email tpye of functionality here).
3. Be more geared towards web serving than general network.

Thanks for you thoughts.

I can highly recommend F5 BigIP.

Failing that, some of the security applicances over at VMWare look interesting.

Depends on price and any advanced features you need, but we use Sonicwall's pro series and I've been happy with their performance.

Your current webhost should have already sorted you out?

Names have been dropped in this thread and I thought that was now against the TOS. However, as the thread currently exists I'll tell you where to go to solve your problem.....RackSpace!

Read it soon....I don't expect this thread to last for long :(
