Hi everybody!
I am trying to get some calls from my website dedicated to custom software and gadget development. I have succeeded in placing some good links at the forums and guest-posts on related websites and now I have around 800 unique visitors each day for the last 3 months. 90% of the visitors are from information keywords (how to do X on Y), but not the company services. I do not get any actual calls. The irony is that before I started the SEO promotion, I had far fewer visitors (around 100 per day) but at least 1-2 calls per month. What could be wrong? <snip> Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi mavstuff and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

If your visitors are not coming in looking for the services your company provides, they are not likely to call because they are looking for something they are not finding at your site.

Have you tried writing about the services that your company does provide so that you are more likely to have visitors who are looking for the services that your company provides? Those are the people who might call.

Where were people finding your contact information previously when you were receiving calls?

Another question, are you sure that your increased traffic is from real people, and not bots? I once ran a $2000 campaign on Facebook and thought I had a lot of results, until I figured out that 99% of the click-throughs were bots.

Your industry may target a different demographic than me (although what you described sounds like it would target me), but I can say that I, personally, NEVER call a company! Just yesterday I was shopping on a tree website and had a question, but their only option for assistance was to call; no email or chat, just call. I went to another site.

I kind of think that the concept of talking on a phone is dying as a whole, and from my personal experience it's primarily the 50+ age group that does it.
