Firefox tells me SEC ERROR REVOKED CERTIFICATE

But other browsers have no problem with site?

I was recently trying to bring up a website at a UK .edu with Firefox (72.0.1) and FF didn't like the certificate, gave me SEC_ERROR_REVOKED_CERTIFICATE. I ran the URL through an on-line cert checker and it didn't raise any flags. On the same computer (Win-7) I tried the URL on a couple of other browsers (IE-11 and Brave) and they rendered the site without problems.

Does FF either maintain its own certificate store, or does it know how to check them? Is there any interaction with the OS in this regard?

I remember back when I was running win-98, and maybe you needed to do this occasionally also with XP, that you had to manually install root certificate updates. Is this needed for win-7? or FF?

Yes, Firefox has their own certificate store. I would update Firefox. My current version is 87. That 72.0.1 version is 15 major version numbers behind. Downloading the newest browser should also give you the newest root-certificates and probably fixes your problem.

I like to stick to the lowest version of FF that works with the sites I browse because the lowest versions are for me faster and work with my addons (including java). For the record, on another pc running FF 52.9.0 the site renders just fine. Don';t know if this matters, but the cert in question was issued by QuoVadis.
