I've been studying SEO for a few years now and really putting forth an effort to overtake my competition in a "local" market. I've built well over 900 pages on my site. Before I even look at my email each morning, I look at Google Analytics and Search Console. Let me preface this post with this......I feel that I'm doing everything right (except for having 100's of backlinks which is a pain). I have typed in over 600,000 words on my site. The content is rich and white hat. Every photo has a meta-title. My keywords are not over-done on the page. In the past couple of weeks I've seen a major drop in impressions and clicks to my site, yet my visitor count is increasing. What's the deal? If you reply back, please don't respond too technical, I'm a Realtor.

First off - welcome to Webmaster World!

When exactly did this start?

One problem might be:
I'm a Realtor.

Not because there is anything wrong with being a realtor but real-estate is an extremely competitive niche. So creating great content and using only white hat tactics, etc.. are all definitely necessary but they are not sufficient, especially in competitive niche.

This started about 2 weeks ago. I know it's competitive and I have 2 guys I'm trying to overtake. I'm not afraid of the work........Just trying to figure out what to do at this point. I have more content than them. One of those guys has no content but thousands of links.

Do you have comparative stats for December 2016 and 2015?

It isn't my business sector but ever since I was a boy in pre-internet days the property ads just vanished from the local paper in the run up to Christmas so my immediate reaction is to wonder if this is just a routine seasonal fluctuation.

Hi JeffNelson and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

As piatkow suggests, some niches suffer quite a bit close to Christmas. I have a couple sites that lose thousands of daily visitors this time every year and stay down until after New Year.

Thank you so much for the responses. Yes, you're probably right. It may just be the time of year. I don't have anything to compare to because I wasn't tracking last year like I do now. Anyway, I'm obsessed with dominating my local market online and doing it the right way. I guess I freaked out a little. Thanks again. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from this site.
