I didn't see this discussed already, sorry if this is a duplicate topic!

I'm rebuilding my site with HTML5 and using a few jQuery features, but now I'm reading about AMP:

[ampproject.org...]

It looks like an overly complicated major PITA, and I got a headache just reading the first page, but since I'm rebuilding from ground up, anyway... is this something I should be learning?

My concern is that I'm going through all of this trouble to rebuild right now, and in a year I'll find that I'm being penalized by Google for not using AMP and end up starting all over.

Further, I've found that every fraction of a second I can shave from load time results in more pages per session. If it's really that much faster, it could, in theory, mean more money at the end of the day.

What's the general consensus on it? Good or bad?

Have you seen the AMP forum [webmasterworld.com] here? It hasn't been around very long, just a few weeks. That's a good place to see what others think about it.

Nope, totally missed it! Sheesh, that's two stupid threads in a row... I musta drank too much for St. Patty's Day :'-(

It looks like the consensus is not so great, though. The last thread reporting a plummet in Adsense revenue was the deal breaker for me, so I guess I'll revisit it next year.
