Senate marks Data Privacy Day, Pass critical bill for Safe Harbor

The US Senate has celebrated Data Privacy Day by passing a critical piece of legislation that will extend US privacy rights to Europeans.

The Judicial Redress Act passed the Senate's Judiciary Committee on Thursday, putting it in front of the full Senate and making it a virtual certainty to become law.

Some of this JIT legislation is still under "secret" by US and EU authorities, so we'll have to wait and see how it all plays out.

I was enjoying the comments section of that article. Not many seem to think this means very much. The Reg seemed to relish putting "senate" and "Data Privacy" in a headline though...

Too true. Odd that I (USA) have to read (UK) news for what is moving and shaking, here there and everywhere. (Don't get me started on US MSM!)
