Site out of a google for two years, want it re-indexed

How long will take Google to re index my site?

I have not done anything wrong in terms of violating Google search policies. My site was offline for two years. I had moved the site from one hosting account to another and forgot to change the nameservers. I then suffered a period of ill health, quite severe, to the point I lost any motivation I had of running my sites. Thankfully, I have now recovered from those health issues and want to get back to managing the sites again. I fixed the server issue three or four days ago, but so far Google hasn't re-indexed the site. I submitted the home page to Bing after not getting indexed there after the first two days. They have now indexed the home page (though no other pages yet). The site itself has plenty of good back links (built naturally, without soliciting) and I used to get around 1000 uniques a day.

Answering the subject line question the only way it can be answered: as long as it takes.

Folks try to jump start G these days with submits and re-submits and the reality is they are the only (their perception) game in town and will do so on their time line, not yours.

Don't hold your breath. Go with who does (b is one, have you tried ddg?) and also know they will index what they can when they can when they send bots that way... And if this is revamp of something they already had.... well keep that in consideration, too. The web has become an alarmingly messy place and these mega search engines are showing signs of fail of their professed "index the web" mantra.

For all their vaunted computing power, they still can't keep up with the bits and chaff of sites and sites and bs and bs and bs and bs and bs and bs and bs.... times a power of 10 that is the web these days.

That your index page was indexed by one, that's a good thing.

Good news. Google has indexed one of the posts (not the home page). Hopefully both Google and Bing will index rest of the site over the coming week.

By the way, I didn't send Google a submit request. All I did was reconnect the site to my server. Google has found the site without my asking.

I am seeing the site on site:mysite.com on Google but in my webmaster tools, the site shows 0 pages indexed under index status but some 300 pages indexed under sitemaps (webmaster tools). I only added the site to webmaster tools less than two weeks ago, so could this be the reason why its not yet showing up under the index status? Or hasn't it yet been indexed? If not, should I send a reconsideration request.

It is that webmaster tools is like a summary report, it is not constantly updated for real time reporting. The site: search is more accurate. Only send a reconsideration request if you receive a manual site penalty notice. If there is some new page or some section that is not showing in the site: search, you can use "Fetch as Googlebot" and see if they can render pages there - and submit it to the index.
