Recently Google and Bing/Yahoo made changes to their policies regarding types of products allowed in their advertising programs. My site has been suspended, as it deals with certain types of sporting goods accessories.
I've tried forum advertising in the past, and it's never worked out. Right now I'm paying $150 for a month on a forum where I can place ads in the classifieds section as a dealer. Two weeks into it, listing new products every day, and no sales. That's par for forums.
I have another site in the same niche, and I have an advertising agency running banner ads on it. I asked them about advertising for my site on other sites, and they recommended a certain blog at $300 to $500 a month. Looking over the blog, I can't see where it would pay off. I may try it anyway, after getting feedback from some of its advertisers.
The only site that has consistently generated sales is one where people in my niche can go and post deals they've found. Retailers can pay to have listings, but only if the product they're advertising is the best deal on the internet. The cost is $150 a month for one new listing every three days. The downside is that I have to reduce my prices to almost nothing in order to have the best deals.
I tried Facebook advertising, and spent $2000 before giving up.
I cannot think of another venue for advertising. Any suggestions?
