A lot of people will say that your homepage is Incredibly important, is the first impression people get of your website. I suppose it's rather like a book, first impressions mean a lot. The fact that many of my visitors do not arrive at my homepage is by the by. I've been working on my homepage and I get to the point where I'm really happy, then I start rethinking what my visitors are expecting and looking for. I've created an eye-catching banner which has a very colourful image, plus a heading and subheading That spell out clearly what my website is all about.
I've been thinking about the rest of the Homepage design, is it really necessary to have lots of other bits of information? After all, you don't sit there staring at the front of the book, you interested in what's inside.
I know that the UK government website won awards for its simplicity. I'm thinking along the same lines, is it really necessary to have photos and lots of information on the front page?
