Is the site hosting down or DNS resolving is not working?

I sometimes can i access my site, it shows "connection time out". But if i check the site in sites like downforeveryoneorjustme.com it show that my site is up. Is it possible the problem to be with the DNS resolving? My site is hosted on freehostia.com and also registered with freehostia.com.

what i do is a trace route (tracert) from the command line to see if there are issues between me and the webhost.

I run tracert from command line and it didn't show any errors but i still can't access the site. It shows "connection time out". Is it possible the problem to be with my router?

well if a tracert or ping works then the site is technically up.
are you running scripts on the page that might for some reason be in an infinite loop

No, i don't run any script on the site, but when i can't access my site i also can't access freehostia.com. May be the problem is with my router but i am not sure. If there is any way to test the router i could check.

A ping/tracert will show that the physical server is up, but not necessarily the site. The web server (e.g., IIS, Apache) may be having an issue. Or there may be an issue at the application layer (e.g., PHP, .Net). If you use a database, there could be an issue on the database side. Or the hosting company could have routing issues.

Normally, I would suggest contacting your hosting company for support. But with a name like FREEhostia, I wouldn't be too optimistic...
