Compare Server Control Panels

Free or cheap alternatives to cPanel

I'm setting up a new server, to be using CentOS.

I've always used WHM / cPanel, but it's not exactly the cheapest system in the world, so I'm tossing around the idea of experimenting with some of the alternatives.

I've read a very few reviews on Ajenti, Kloxo, OpenPanel, and ZPanel, but you never really know whether to trust these reviews (too many reviews are bought these days). From screenshots, Ajenti seems the most appealing, but of course appearances don't really mean a lot when it comes to servers.

I need stability, of course, but also ease of transferring accounts from cPanel. I have a few hundred accounts to transfer, and I don't want to have to rebuild all of them in the attempt of saving a few dollars. Also important is some level of tech support; the cPanel forums are awesome.

Anyone have experience with any of these, or other control panels? Recommendations?

I don't know anything about running this kind of operation or business, but it seems to me that the preferences of the customers should be taken into consideration.

To my knowledge, none of them actually use cPanel, so it can be replaced without them ever noticing (as long as links to webmail, mail servers, home paths, etc are all the same).
