How to force people to give you a social signal to get resource

Today I have seen that [snip] (dot) com gives out free templates, but in order to download, a pop up shows up and forces you to either:

- sign up for newsletter (not interested in that option)

Or:

- Give a tweet
- Give a facebook like

How are they doing that?

I have some resources published and visitors are too selfish or lazy to give me credit, so I would like to "force" them to do so. No money, no honey!

If anybody knows how to implement that let me know.

A question that contains the words "force" and "social" is not likely to lead anywhere you want to be. How long do you think it will take g### to figure out that these are unnatural "likes" -- especially now that the question has been posed on a forum they read religiously?

Forcing people to "like" is fine, nobody links back, pays or donates anymore...

Social signals are all that are left, and people seldom bother because too lazy, they want the resource but they don't want to give anything for it...

I was more than happy to give likes to that site for all the wonderful templates. I think there is nothing wrong with that concept.

But anyways, the question here is not about Google and their "morality" or "ethics" (that Google truly lacks)...

This question is about how some sites get this done, what code or plugin they are using, Wordpress has one from WMPU but I'm looking for a solution that will work for Joomla, Drupal or plain HTML.
