Do you keep old copies of your site?

...have you ever gone back and looked at them?

I suppose most of us keep back-ups of our websites. i run mine off onto a CD every week.
Do you ever go back and see what it looked like?

one of my revenue streams has taken a dip recently so i thought i'd go back and see what the layout was like last year, when it was doing alright. and i cant believe how rubbish it looks. in fact, i cant work out why i was making more money then, because my site now is 100x better.

but the point is, have you ever gone back and looked at your site from yesteryear and been surprised at how dumb it looked?

i'm going to dig up one of my back-up CDs from a few years ago and have a good laugh.

Yes. Old copies are kept for a long time. You never know when you might need to refer back to something.

I occasionally need to borrow a chunk of code from one project for use on another with a few small changes.

One thing I have learned long ago is that a website is NEVER "finished". There's always something to add or improve.

Yes very much so. For a while we had an animated guy with a mouth that moved and audio 'welcome to our store' on the front page. Turns out it actually scared some people lol.

I can't believe I actually used the old 'under construction' message way, way back.

I wonder when it will be cool to have a retro site.
