If you have looked at the code for that page and the basic link looks correct, it sounds like you have some javascript catching the click event and doing the redirect.

It was put together by a 3rd party so I haven't looked at the admin side but I have gone through the source code and a number of the javascript, css, and other files that are called and can't find a problem.

But it must be there somewhere. What I'd like to know is how?

Would it have been put in by the person coding it, either unbeknown to him (perhaps using borrowed code) or known and hoping to make money as owner of the click referrals.

I've contacted webgains with the referrer link and the program id etc should shed some light on who the 'click money' would go to. Follow the money...

Turn javascript off and try again, my guess is that the even is being redirected. If the link works as intended study the javascript on your site.

Temporarily block the "coder" as well, he may very well know what's going on and profiting, it happens.

It's not a mystery however, the browser is doing as the code instructs, first download a copy of the file from the server and look at that (I've had clients checking their backup files and finding no problems when it was the live files with problems). Perhaps you can paste the link code from that file for us to look at, as well as any javascript files/code on/linked from that page ?

The site-wide redirects are being inserted by wordpress and operated by viglink.com

I have now found out that Wordpress does have this in its terms and conditions and sometimes operates this referral type thing on sites - but not all sites.

Ok, I have not got a big problem with them inserting some links but the way it was done, I thought the site was hacked. It was so bizarre that the links were referred to a signup for an affiliate program.

The blog has now been moved. So they've lost out by implementing such a ridiculous scheme.
