How to swat an annoying bot?

There's a bot hitting 2 pages on my site, over and over and over. Several times a second. It's been going on for days.

The IP is blocked in my .htaccess file, and they're getting nothing but a 403 error response. Whatever it is they're trying to do, it's not going to happen.

But it's annoying! I look at my access logs, and 50% of the traffic is all THAT.

The IP address is from China.

Is there anything else I can do to make them stop?

You remind me of my Mom and her software firewall as it kept telling her people were knocking on her firewall and she kept calling me complaining people were trying to break into her computer.

I bought her a hardware firewall, never heard from her about the issue again.

Doesn't mean they still aren't out there still banging on her IP address trying to get in, she just doesn't know about it and doesn't bug me about it anymore.

I think you need a hardware firewall :)

The ones who especially annoy me get redirected to 127.0.0.1. For some reason this really does seem to work. I had a Ukrainian who used to make the same batch of six requests over and over-- I have now happily forgotten the details, but I think it was two pages, each with three different randomly forged UAs. Once I started redirecting, the packages of six dropped to one. And now I think they're simply gone. Maybe they decided that contemplating their robotic navel was more interesting than reading Alonzo and Melissa six times a day.

Sounds like a referrer/log spam problem. Some SEO head decided to link a pile of sites/domains and is using network of Chinese IP bots/boxes to spam links.
