Ten years in on the commercial side. Looking back over my numbers and the many sites offered, and chasing all the fads, etc., I've come to the conclusion that my 12,000 ANNUAL hits (visits, very low count) per YEAR websites (3) generate more REAL DOLLARS than all the quickie "fast change" sites offered and range upwards to 6M+ visits per YEAR.

Appears that chasing PENNIES (ROI which is a basis of COST/RETURN) is an okay occupation, and many have bought MacMansions from same. I do that, too, with increasingly less ability after Panda. the penny chasing that is... But if one does have a TRUE market that even the fuzzy panda guy can't touch there's biz out there. And, while these things I do are not multi-gazillion biz with really high dollars (and is not electronic or sports) type of product, it is unique it can't be pandalized.

Just offering a thought that if you are on the web for commerce you might look to the offer and expected clientele... and if your niche product is one replicated out the wahzoo. If Tom, Dick, and/or Harry are doing it, you're likely to see a diminished return.

Interested in YOUR results over the last few years as to success, continuing success, or loss of biz, but (as I have) no product placement except in the most general terms.

Globally there's a bit of downturn in sales, though some markets are seeing growth. As that big, brassy babe on American TV sometimes says (Wendy Williams) "How You Doin'?"

There are many stories of success out there and I would say yours is one of them. I guess you have experienced lots of sacrifices before you achieve the dollar revenue you have now.

I love the idea of doing something different beyond the ordinary to achieve more. As what the famous saying says, "Doing ordinary things extraordinarily." I guess this makes sense now.

Busier websites make me feel safer. My income has constantly grown as my traffic has grown. I guess the answer to your question would be work smart if you are smart, if not you always have the other option. But I also like to grow my websites, to try and make them better than my competition, to offer a good service and to be patient with their growth. Slow and healthy growth.
