I don't want to drive traffic to facebook but it seems there could good reason to use facebook social plugins to draw in traffic e.g. like it button, comments etc.
Are you integrating your site with facebook?

Yes, and it works really well whether you're using the iframe code, or XFBML. We have several articles on our site and sharing/recommending/liking them drives traffic to our site.
We are also using Twitter, Mixx and a few others.

Yes, new content always posted via facebook and twitter plugins first, once google knows its mine, i link on my site, sad but true, otherwise scrapers are faster...

I make it easy to share my pages on both services however I don't set up a page dedicated to my site on either because I'm not wanting to maintain a large group of people on properties I don't own.
